Great Introduction to Nature

Dr. Davenport's has written a wonderful book for the curious nonscientist naturalist. He has packed the book with many charming anecdotes and literary references that make it a comfortable read. He almost sneaks in all manner of sophisticated science and many fascinating facts about the life styles of some odd flora and fauna. The book also contains many lovely photographs. The really impressive part of this book is that Davenport manages to pack a lot of scientific information in without scaring or boring the readers with details and technical jargon.

This a delightful and insighful book written by Dr. Larry Davenport,also known as the The Cahaba Lily King in Alabama.It is a very witty book wtitten about nature from plants to insects.Even if you aren't a nature lover you will enjoy these stories and observations by Dr.Davenport.

In this day and age where fewer and fewer young people seem to go outdoors for educational and entertainment experiences, this book is the perfect enticement to reconnect (or get started) with nature. This well-written and perceptive volume leads one to observe and ask questions about nature, and record one's thoughts right in the book on blank pages. The ideas are fresh and enticing, often humorous, covering plants and animals familiar to most people (with great photos). The text guides one to develop an interest in a subject that can become personal and allow self discovery. More university and adult education classes should be taught this way.
